NEW YORK, Dec. 11, 2025, 2 p.m. Two years after she was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, there may be a new glimmer of hope for Wendy Williams, according to her attorney Joe Tacopina.

Tacopina told Nightline that the former talk show host will be out of guardianship by the end of this year. He emphasized that Williams does not have frontotemporal dementia, calling that fact a decisive factor in the case.

The attorney explained that guardianship lawyers are involved and have assured him that Williams will no longer be under court control by the end of 2025.

Tacopina also revealed that Williams’ past struggles stemmed from alcohol‑induced dementia. “She was an alcoholic and looked like she needed help,” he said, adding that she has now stopped drinking and is doing better.

This positive update follows a new medical evaluation from Williams’ doctors. Fans and supporters are hopeful that her path to independence is finally within reach.
