NEW YORK, May 30, 2026, 2 p.m.— Redding News Review publisher and talk show host Rob Redding today criticized podcast host Joe Rogan for calling comedians “traitors” while defending Tony Hinchcliffe’s George Floyd joke at the Netflix Roast of Kevin Hart.

Rogan made the remarks on his show, saying, “Comedians that are getting upset about these roast jokes, fuck all the way off,” and later, “You fucking traitor. You know what this is. You know exactly what this is.” Redding responded in a new column.

Redding notes Rogan was referring to comedian Chelsea Handler, who was the only major white comic to call the roast material “racist,” “bigoted,” “ick,” “gross,” and to say “lynching is not a joke. That’s worse than rape.”

The column also revisits past controversies involving comics Rogan defended. Redding cites Shane Gillis’ 2019 firing from Saturday Night Live after video surfaced of him using an anti‑Asian slur, and Tony Hinchcliffe’s 2021 viral incident in which he called an Asian American comic a “filthy fucking chink.” He also points to Hinchcliffe’s 2024 appearance at a Donald Trump rally where he referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.”

Redding questions why Netflix cut seventeen jokes from the Hart roast but left Hinchcliffe’s George Floyd line intact. He contrasts Hart’s response with reports that Tom Brady confronted a comic backstage during his own roast and told him, “Never say that shit again.”

Redding hosts the talk show Redding News Review Unrestricted and is the author of the forthcoming book Graphic Graphite: Bucking as a Challenge to Racial Narrative, scheduled for release on Amazon on Juneteenth, Monday, June 15, 2026.
