Nearly Half of Americans Say Trump Is Racist

NEW YORK, Feb. 23, 2026, 12 p.m. — A new poll reveals that 47 percent of Americans believe Donald Trump is racist. Meanwhile, 24 percent say the label does not fit, and 29 percent remain undecided.

This comes amid ongoing controversy over a video Trump posted depicting Obama and Michelle as apes, which Democrats quickly condemned as racist. Senator Tim Scott, a fellow Republican, called it "the most racist thing" out of this White House.

Additionally, a recent survey shows that 54 percent of Americans believe Trump’s rhetoric on China has negatively impacted how Chinese Americans are treated.
