NEW YORK, Feb. 3, 2026, 10 a.m. In a night filled with glitter, Grammy glory, and unforgettable moments, Kendrick Lamar proved once again why he is the king of hip-hop. The 38-year-old superstar set a new record at the 2026 Grammy Awards by becoming the most awarded rapper in history with an astonishing 27 wins, surpassing Jay-Z’s previous record of 25.

Lamar’s night kicked off with a bang as he took home the award for Best Rap Album for GNX and later added Record of the Year for Luther featuring SZA to his trophy case. During his heartfelt acceptance speech, Lamar kept it real. He said, “I am not good at talking about myself, but I express it through the music. It is an honor to be here.”

He also paid homage to his fellow nominees, shouting out friends like Tyler the Creator, Clipse, Push, and Malice. Lamar declared, “Hip hop is always going to be right here. We are going to be in these suits, looking good, having our folks with us, and keeping the culture alive.”

Lamar’s historic night was not just about the awards. It was a statement. With nine nominations, he led the pack and won in multiple categories including Best Rap Performance for “Chains and Whips,” Best Melodic Rap Performance for “Luther,” and Best Rap Song for “TV Off.”

His 2025 Grammy haul was also historic. He took home Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and several other top honors for his hit “Not Like Us,” which he performed during his groundbreaking Super Bowl Halftime Show. Lamar made history as the first solo rap artist to headline the Super Bowl with SZA as his special guest.

As the Grammys broadcast from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Lamar’s record-breaking night confirmed that he is not just a rapper, but a legend shaping the future of music.
