NEW YORK, April 26, 2026, 6 p.m.— A Black man was placed into custody after trying to kill President Trump last night at an event in Washington, D.C.
Cole Allen, who was staying at a hotel where the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was being held, reportedly sent a chilling anti-Trump manifesto before he opened fire at the event, according to authorities.
The 31-yeard old California-based teacher detailed plans to target Trump administration officials, stating he was willing to kill anyone in the room if necessary, police said.
“I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes,” Allen wrote, apparently referring to Trump.
Authorities said Allen criticized the security at the event, mocked the lack of precautions, and expressed his rage over political issues, including U.S. military actions and immigration policies.
Authorities revealed that he bought weapons legally, trained at shooting ranges, and traveled from California to D.C. possibly to avoid scrutiny.
He was detained by law enforcement, and the incident has sparked renewed calls for improved security at high-profile events.
