Atlanta Rapper DJ Unk Dies at 43

NEW YORK, January 25, 2025, 11 p.m. ET- Atlanta rapper DJ Unk, known for his hit songs 'Walk It Out' and '2 Step,' has died at the age of 43, his family confirmed on Saturday. The cause of his death remains unknown.
His former label, Big Oomp Records, announced on Instagram: "It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of a true ATL legend, Anthony Platt better known as 'DJ Unk'. We ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We also want to thank everyone who has supported DJ Unk and the Oomp Camp over the years. Rest in peace, Unk. You will forever be missed."
Anthony Leonard Platt, known by his stage name Unk, was an American DJ, hype man, and rapper. Platt began his career in 1998, joining DJ Jelly and DJ Montay’s Southern Style DJs. They performed at high school parties, proms, pep rallies, and other events across Georgia. In 2000, Big Oomp signed Unk to his label, and he released the album "Beat'n Down Yo Block!" in 2006, featuring the single "Walk It Out," which reached the Billboard Hot 100 top 10.
