Artist's Statement...
Robert "Rob" Redding Jr.'s thought's about Smear Painting: "Like life Smear Painting blends two or more worlds together. No matter how perfect we try to be, no matter how perfect we want others to be, no matter what type of utopia we try to create on earth the fact is our world - just like colors on a canvas - will always collide in arresting and sometimes adventitious ways. No other form demonstrates that collision like Smear Painting."

Rob Redding, a 32-year-old Atlantan, began his professional art career doing imitations of Jackson Pollock at age 12. In 2000, he branched into his own artistic style of "Smear Painting" - a vexing mix of colors and psychedelic backgrounds. "It is always an event anytime Rob Redding's smear paintings are featured," writes John Blee, a respected critic and artist. Redding is also an author, journalist and nationally syndicated radio host. He has been been featured in Upscale magazine; named one of “The 100 Most Important Radio Talk Hosts in America” by Talkers magazine; profiled as an “Industry Leader” in radio by Allaccess.com; and has received a proclamation from the Atlanta City Council for his work. His award-winning Website, ReddingNewsReview.com, is a leading source for black news on the Internet. His art work can be found consistently at The Warehouse in Washington, D.C. and at Classic Art House located in Brussels Belgium. View Resume
