Fishburne applauds President Obama; hits Clarence Thomas

By Robert "Rob" Redding Jr.

ATLANTA, April 16, 2013, 11 p.m. - Matrix actor Laurence Fishburne lauded President Obama and assailed Justice Clarence Thomas in a recent magazine interview.

Fishburne heralded Obama for coming to see his Tony award-winning role as Thurgood Marshall in the play "Thurgood."

The actor described Obama's appearance at a 2010 performance as a "thrill of a lifetime." He said the president and First Lady Michelle Obama came to a show after being told by East Wing staffers about what they were missing.

Fishburne, however, noted that, to his knowledge, Thomas, the nation's second black on the high court, did not come see the play.

"I went to the Supreme Court and watched him work, but he never returned the favor," he said.
