N-word activist wants CNN to rebroadcast story

"It is my opinion that CNN had no racist intent in playing the music containing the N-word. I do feel that it was someones distasteful attempt at comedy. The music was played in the background of a story about a 103 year old black lady. "Never Would Have Made It", by Marvin Sapp, would have been a more appropriate and inspiring song. I have no desire to stir things up; however, I do have a suggestion for solution. I suggest that CNN re-do the music in the story and run it again in a positive light. I think that a respectable 103 year lady and people that love her might feel better."

Redding News Review first reported on Wednesday that CNN apologized after the N-word blared from an unedited version of Coolio's "Fantastic Voyage" at the conclusion of the segment about Gladys Flamer, who still drives her own Cadillac.
"We aired some music just a few minutes ago, and, obviously for those of you that heard it, it was the wrong music that aired," anchor Kyra Phillips said following the segment. "We apologize for that. It was a terrible mistake. And we're working very hard to make up for it."
Miller convinced Funk & Wagnall's Dictionary to take the N-word out of its editions in 1994. He has also been involved in resolutions banning the word in Baltimore and New York City.
(Miller provides legal services to Redding Communications, Inc., (RCI), the parent company of Redding News Review).
