SIMPSON SUPPORTS BOOK LEAK

By Marie Wesley

June 22, 2007, 1:30 a.m. - O.J. Simpson told a celebrity gossip Web site being sued for posting a manuscript of the former NFL star's scrapped book that he supports the dot-com blocking what he calls a bid for "blood money."

The Associated Press reported lawyers for the family of Ron Goldman say TMZ.com should be held in contempt for leaking a manuscript of "If I Did It" -- Simpson's hypothetical story about his alleged role in the deaths of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and friend Goldman in 1994.

Simpson was acquitted of murder charges, but Goldman's family won a $30 million-plus civil wrongful death case against Simpson and a judge recently turned over rights to the canceled project in the family's effort to collect.

In a video posted on TMZ late Thursday, Simpson denied any involvement in the posting of the manuscript but said TMZ "should be able to do what they want to do."

"TMZ don't let them try to keep you from doing what they're trying to do," he said in response to reporters' questions as he exited the Forge Restaurant in Miami Beach. "TMZ, I don't know what you did. I don't know who put this book out. I didn't do it."

Simpson continued: "Thank God that you helped it get out free to the public so that nobody made any blood money at this point."
