EXCLUSIVE: PROFESSOR PLANS AFRO-LATIN JOURNAL
By Bruno Gaston
International Editor
"I realized, as an Afro-Caribbeanist, that there was a lack of venues for scholars of the African Diaspora in the Western Hemisphere," he told Redding News Review. "The journals, I found, did not have an international presence so I created this journal to connect all of the scholars in Latin America for them to write and for others to read."
"The response was so overwhelming that it may become bi-annual," he said.

"I named the journal 'Negritud' because the word means a consciousness of and pride in the cultural and physical aspects of the African heritage," said Miletti, who is a dark skinned mestizo. "I wanted a name that encapsulated that meaning within the academic arena and would serve as a call for the scholarly cohesiveness of researchers of all fields of study of the African heritage in Latin America."
The journal, which is not limited to college readers, is scheduled to be released in August.
