Redding to show art work in Florida
By Keyonna Summers
Entertainment Editor
July 12, 2007, 12:33 a.m. - Artwork by Redding News Review Publisher Robert "Rob" Redding Jr. will be included in a Florida gallery's art show this month.
"Summer of Love", which celebrates life in 1967, will be held at Melbourne, Fla.'s Imago Fine Art & Fine Wine from July 28 to Aug. 29.
The show will include three works from Redding's "Black Series" of paintings. The show includes pictures three, five and seven of the series of seven.
Imago owner Mark Baker, who selected the pieces for the show, said the Vietnam war had a huge impact on artists of the period, who used their paintbrushes to express their desires to rebel and bring about change.

Baker said many artists today feel a similar sense of frustration regarding the ongoing war in Iraq.
"Forty years have passed and we find ourselves in the same place," Baker said.
Redding, 31, said the "Black Series'" bold, erratic, swirls of color evoke a mood of energy and unrest synonymous with both time periods.
"The 'Black Series' has always been a versatile one," said the nationally-syndicated radio personality and author, who began painting at age 12. "I can see how the black rings could remind people of the tie-dyed shirts or other artifacts typical of the (Summer of Love) era."
Redding's works have also been featured in art shows at Washington D.C.'s Market 5 Gallery and The Gallery at Warehouse, and landed him a seventh place spot on the District art collector Philip Barlow's Artomatic 2004 "Pick List."
His artwork was also included in "Art House," an independent movie filmed at "Artomatic 2004."
